Lisa: Hi there. Thank you for joining me for another episode of the simply booked podcast. Today will be a shorter episode. And that's funny for me to say, because I intentionally make all of these episodes pretty short, but this one will be shorter than usual. Keep your eye out for a special bonus episode that will come out next week.
So I normally release episodes [00:01:00] every other Wednesday. And this is a really special one because I'm going to have a guest on an issue will be my first guest. And she's going to help me make , a big announcement. It will be released on September 21st, which is also a Wednesday, but you won't want to miss it in fact, to make super sure that you don't miss any announcement of any
Pause this episode right now. Go subscribe to my email list. I'll wait. Go ahead and pause it. Okay, welcome back. I will be announcing this there as well. Trust me if you're an entrepreneur and you're enjoying my podcast so far, you won't want to miss this announcement.
Okay, now that my shameless plug is out of the way today. I want to talk about finding your community. I'm so thankful that I was able to find a community of business owners right away. When I started my business. I knew that I needed support with all the things. And I found a podcast called profits and Prosecco hosted by Katie Farrow.
I quickly binged [00:02:00] all of her podcast episodes and didn't waste any time purchasing her course called become a bookkeeper, AKA Babs. I've benched that course in a week. And then jumped into her course that is now known as life by the books, AKA Libby. So with Libby came a group coaching program. It's a membership. It started out as a private Facebook group.
Of other bookkeepers who are currently members of Libby or previous graduates. And through that group membership, I have met so many other bookkeepers who are like-minded and supportive of each other. I can't begin to explain how valuable this has been to me, but most of my friends and family in real life have also supported me like crazy, but nobody gets it quite like other business owners and even better we can meet on zoom.
So you don't have to wear pants. Just kidding. I always wear pants. Whether it's a group coaching call or a coworking session, where we turn off our cameras and get work done in a focus [00:03:00] timeframe. Not to mention our Facebook group that eventually moved to a platform called circle. It's everything you love about Facebook groups, but none of the distractions of Facebook. Anyway,
Seriously, if you're a part of a Facebook group now, and things get buried under posts and you can't tell if things have already been read or you miss something, it's just aggravating. I know, you know what I'm talking about, but I honestly lose interest pretty quickly in Facebook type So circle has been a really welcome platform, and I know there's a bunch of others that are very similar to
This group of bookkeepers that I'm in now is so supportive. We celebrate each other's wins. There's no sense of competition anywhere to be found, even though we all technically are seeking the same types of businesses as clients are very similar. I wanted to talk about this group to drop a little teaser about my guests. That will be on the bonus episode. Next week, I met her through this group membership and she and I have been collaborating on something together that we cannot [00:04:00] wait to release into the
So if that isn't a reason to find your community, I don't know what else is. Find yourself, a group of people. Be vulnerable with them, support them and allow them to support you. And you'll suddenly open yourself to a whole new world of community over competition. That you never knew existed. You can nurture your passions and possibly develop new ones.
So every time I have a coaching call with this group. I get off the call and I, gosh, to my husband until he starts falling asleep. About how much I love my business. How much. I love my coach, Katie, who, by the way, she's linked in the show notes. Along with both of the courses I took, I highly recommend if you are a bookkeeper or an aspiring bookkeeper, don't walk, run to the links below and check her out.
I'm always so motivated and empowered and more convinced than ever that I'm doing exactly what I meant to do. It's such a good feeling to have that kind of reassurance and certainty to know that you're in the right place. [00:05:00] So I was on episode 66 of the profits and Prosecco podcast, and I have a copy of that audio. So eventually I will probably post it on my own podcast feed. But it's gonna take some time.
If you have 90 minutes to spare and you want to hear me literally cry. About how much I love Katie. And that she followed through with her passion to develop these courses and be such an amazing coach. Go listen seriously. It's 90 minutes long. So speed it up. Speed. Both of us up to one and a half X or whatever one, a 1.5 X. And let me know what you think. I pay a decent amount.
For this continued coaching and group membership with Katie, but I can confidently say that every month. It's been worth it, plus some, and now that I'm becoming one of the more seasoned bookkeepers in the group. It's been a lot of fun to be able to support others who are just getting started or share some tips that I learned along the way.
There's always somebody to learn from. And. It's just a [00:06:00] lot of fun. So we are all a valuable part of that membership. And the other bookkeepers in that group make me want to stay in as well. So in fact, I get to see and meet some of them in person in a couple of months at a retreat that Katie is hosting. And this is not typically something I would want to do fly halfway across the country to meet people in person that I've previously.
Only met online. No. Thank you. But getting to know these ladies over the past 10 months or I definitely cannot wait to meet them in. Developing and stronger friendships in the process. That's all for today. I thank you so much for tuning in and talk to you again soon. Really Don't miss that bonus episode next week.
Yay. By now
thanks for joining me on today's episode and I'll see you next time.
