[00:00:00] Okay, today I'm here with Megan. Hi Megan, how are you? Hey, I'm great. So happy to be here. Yeah, thanks for joining me. So today we're talking a lot about the Profit Society and that's kind of, Jen and I's. Little bookkeeping community where business owners just who need support doing their own bookkeeping come and we do monthly workshops, coworking times, and just get to know other members of the entrepreneur community.
[00:00:27] And so tell us a little bit about what you do and why you wanted to join the Prophet Society. So my name is Megan and I have an online business I support. Service providers who have personal brands creative brands, all sorts of different types of businesses with operations and content strategy support.
[00:00:48] So what drew me to the Profit Society is that. . Like many of us who are running our online businesses, we wear many hats. While secretly I have a bookkeeping background, , it's one thing to have the knowledge and it's another thing to implement it and do for yourself the things that you've either done for others in the past or, so on and so forth.
[00:01:12] So for me, it was great to find a place where I can be like, okay. Not only am I time blocking this time for myself, I also know that I'm gonna be held accountable so that, and not, I'll also have a community of people who are in the same boat as me. And I can also ask questions to these things that are coming up as I'm doing my bookkeeping, that even though I may have had the background and had done it many moons ago, mm-hmm. I can still say, Hey Lisa. Hey Jen. Like I'm doing this right now. I'm tracking this expense, or, I just have a quick question about it. And so I love the co-working sessions for that. And then the workshops have been super, super helpful. Especially when it comes to approaching like as we go into 2023, any changes we wanna make within our business, and how that's gonna relate to.
[00:01:59] or affect our books. . Yeah, absolutely. so tell me a little bit about your bookkeeping background. Did you do bookkeeping specifically or were you doing accounting or what type of. I did bookkeeping. I'm gonna age myself here. This is like when quickBooks was desktop standalone. And like QuickBooks Online had just come on the. Nice. And so you had to have your multiple licenses for QuickBook, standalone. And I did basic bookkeeping for a small business who did books for the physician industry. So, different types of practitioners.
[00:02:37] Yeah. but. I left that and went way more into operations. . And so I have not done bookkeeping in a very long time as far as like how I do work for myself. , Mm-hmm. , but even still, like QuickBooks online look so different than it did when it first long. It's like a whole different world now than it used to be.
[00:02:58] So, Still going to, since I'm out of practice. Having you and Jen as a resource is so, so helpful for me. for my services, I structure them as retainer packages and so, okay. That's how I've done it so far I've been in business. so you charge a monthly rate. and it's ongoing subscription, essentially, right?
[00:03:20] Yeah, exactly. Okay. So I mean, we have a, monthly services agreement and you know, standard termination. Mm-hmm. For contracts, but you know, if we continue each month and it rolls over the next month, then retainers are. My service packages are set up. . And this, we actually got really into this in the most recent workshop for how to pair ourselves because there's so many different ways Well, that a kit could be done mm-hmm. and so I appreciated having that to bounce off of you guys. Kind of like how I was structuring the little, you know, buckets business accounts for. The main entry of revenue to where we're holding tax money, to where we're holding savings. it actually, I felt more, if anything, I gain confidence from being in the profit society because I get to ask questions, get some reassurance on the things that I am doing, and also get
[00:04:14] a method for how I can move forward, and solutions to problems that I'm facing with getting my books in order because we are in catch up mode right now. Yeah. Yeah. I love that you feel more confident. I think a big thing to it, so I obviously have an accounting background and it's really funny because bookkeeping is always seen as like entry level accounting and.
[00:04:36] When I decided to start a bookkeeping business, I realized how much I didn't know. So I was like, I felt like I was way up here in my accounting knowledge and bookkeeping was way down here, but I still feel like I didn't know much about it, that I couldn't do it. So, I took a whole course on bookkeeping and especially geared towards service industry and like modern technology, you know, like QuickBooks Online, zero.
[00:05:01] And just how the different credit card processors and the fees and everything works because back in the day, you know, the credit card processors didn't exist or people really avoided them. People still try to really avoid credit card processing fees. But that's all something that we just kind of talk about, like how are you invoicing clients?
[00:05:21] That might be something that we talk about in another workshop. And like not using Venmo. The main reason we don't like Venmo, in the bookkeeping crowd is because when you use Venmo, when it comes over on your statement, it just says Venmo. That's all it says, either in or out. It just says Venmo.
[00:05:39] Whereas if you use PayPal, it'll have at least an email address so you at least know who you paid or who paid you. But otherwise, every time we see Venmo, we're like, what was this? You have to tell us what this is. You know, it's just more communication and more back and forth which ends up costing more.
[00:05:55] So people think they're using Venmo to avoid fees, but ultimately, , it takes more time for a bookkeeper to do it, or it takes more time on you, the business owner. To sort through all of that, you have to pull up your Venmo account and scroll through and see what was this $200 charge or whatever. And that's just more time than we would like to spend
[00:06:14] And ultimately, if you can pay 3% to just have it all there, like what kind of service it was and who paid it, this makes life so much easier. Especially if you're not just doing retainer work. , like monthly retainer work. Like if you expand your business and you end up doing, like, start to sell more digital products, right? Mm-hmm. , , like of course, or a masterclass here or. Something else that you know, could be evergreen and you have sales coming in and then there's way more transactions to mm-hmm. to account for. I personally use Stripe. I have used it since day one.
[00:06:47] I'm like, oh, it's the one thing I have done. Right. . That is good. I love stripe. Stripe wear is really great. It's worth to me, The transaction fees are worth it. And they're can be counted as an expense, right? Yes, it is a business deduction. All your credit card processing fees.
[00:07:04] So that is great to point out. And a lot of people don't realize that. So that can help offset, your tax liability at the end of the year. And. So a lot of our workshop, well, all of our workshops where we have a growing library so far we have two. And whenever you're a member, you get the, all the replays.
[00:07:21] So even if you miss one, you know you can go catch it. And listen to it just in your EarPods and wander around. Although we did do a workshop on budgeting and that one we had a spreadsheet and we shared it with everybody and walked everybody through that. And honestly, I learned a lot , like I was doing the workshop, but I had to research, you know, in order to do the workshop and teach it.
[00:07:42] They say the best way to learn something is teach it, right? So, that is true for. I thought that I had it all figured out with my budget, with my business and my personal budget for our finances at home. But once we did all of that, like Jen and I kind of tag teamed and I liked some of her ways and I kind of refreshed my way and then I kind of meshed them together, and that's what I do now.
[00:08:03] it's like this. Weird version of both of the systems that we talked about. And it's nice cuz I can always go back and revisit and see what I said about things because it's just nice to kind of have a. Like a journal of, where I was at the time. And anyone like you guys, the members who join and ask questions, you could also look back at that and be like, that's what I was struggling with a year ago.
[00:08:26] So that's just kind of fun for me. It's kinda like a little coaching session. . Yeah. So I loved getting the insights from. Different people about how they budget or how they approach budgeting in the workshop or in the How to Pair Ourselves workshop when we were talking about different ways to pair ourselves.
[00:08:42] But also what I've loved too is inside the community in heartbeat right now, we like, we've even. Completely unrelated to bookkeeping, we've been able to learn about different, like ask questions like, Hey, I have a question about a certain platform. Like what platform do you recommend for X, Y, Z? . Mm-hmm. . And like we've learned way more about different platforms and business resources that.
[00:09:07] In some instances you might feel like, oh, if I ask somebody this, maybe I'm picking their brain. Or like, but instead we're there and we're just talking about our businesses. Mm-hmm. And getting each other's input and insights and getting to, you know, make friends with other business owners outside of like our own industry.
[00:09:25] , or if we need help with something or possibly even need to hire, , you had access to? Connect with other business owners in different industries. So it's, that has been really fun for me and I've appreciated that. Mm-hmm. , , and I've also loved the post you guys do at the beginning of the week, , where you're like, How many, you know, I don't know.
[00:09:46] Am I gonna give it away? Yeah, no, that's fine. Yeah, you can talk about it . I just love that. You know, you're not just encouraging us. Oh, catch up your books. Catch up your books. We set goals too at the beginning of the week together, so it's like three tangible goals for the week and we, you know, putting it out there in the group, you.
[00:10:03] Another form of accountability for certain things. Mm-hmm. . And. a lot of times it's not related to, like, some of our goals have nothing to do with business . Yeah. Packing for a trip, getting meals planned . Yeah. Right. Or in some ways related to both. I think one of mine was like not checking my notifications after business hours.
[00:10:22] Yeah. That's a good goal and I think that as a business owner, even things in your personal life are affecting your business. So, Like setting boundaries is a big one. I think that's something that we can all benefit from. A lot of times my goals are more like just get through my to-do list, so I'm not like writing these things down to do tomorrow, you know?
[00:10:43] Cause I do that a lot. I just rewrite my list. Sometimes I prioritize things a little differently. But yeah I'm bad at this. But then at the end of the week, we are supposed to comment with a gift of how we did on our, goals that we worked on. And sometimes I just do one of those goals, but I did it pretty well.
[00:11:00] And so I count that as a win. Sometimes I'm just completely exhausted. So it's fun to kind of share how we're feeling about our. Just in like a little meme or something at the end of the week? Yes, absolutely. I mean, even if it's just the one, I think I just like the fact that, you know, had that not been a prompt for me that week I mean, yes, many business owners set goals for themselves, right? But it's always fun to be in conversation and in community with others. And I think having that resource, I think helps us grow. As individuals and as business owners. So in some way, having this community in turn indirectly helps our businesses grow.
[00:11:38] Not just because we're, you know, ultimately getting all of our books in order, or continuing to keep them up to date, but having community and resources and connections that way also helps us grow in other ways. So, right. That's something. I have really appreciated about the community. I like With the goals.
[00:11:57] Kind of going back to that, whenever someone has their goals, I'm like, oh, that's a good idea. That's gonna be my goal for this week. just seeing what other people are doing and the good ideas kind of motivates me, especially on a Monday, like sometimes I'm just really stuck, like analysis paralysis. Like I have so many things on my list that I'm really bad at scheduling things for Monday.
[00:12:18] In my best case scenario, everything we get done on Monday and then the rest of the week I can kind of coast, but that never happens. So then Monday comes around and I'm like, okay, I have this big list of things that I was gonna do today, and how do I pair this down? So seeing someone like just talk more about like getting laundry caught up, I'm like, okay, if I got my laundry caught up, I'd be able to focus more on this.
[00:12:40] So I'm gonna go do that real quick. I'm also, I'm an Enneagram one , so I'm always like trying to fill every space of my waking time. Trying to better myself. So if I'm doing something kind of mindless, I'm listening to a podcast and it's an educational podcast. It's not usually, or yeah, it's not usually just entertainment
[00:13:00] Cuz I feel like, well I need to get caught up with all of these and I have to learn and, it's kind of exhausting being me sometimes. Yeah. I'm also an introvert. How about you? Yeah, I think I am. I think as I've gotten older, I've become more introverted. . I mean, I don't know if it's just cause of, you know, the nature of the past.
[00:13:19] Couple years and, yeah. And being home more or what? Or it's just the fond attachment that I have to sweatpants Now. , yes. I'm like, oh, do I have to put jeans on to go? I used to do this thing. I used to love jeans, like casual Fridays at work. I was like, oh, we should wear jeans every day. And I'm like, those are restricting.
[00:13:42] I don't wanna wear jeans. I know, I, I laugh at when I used to wear dress slacks every day. Uhhuh and like a, you know, dress, I guess more. Corporate business attire. Yeah. And now I'm like, I don't even own clothes like that anymore. . Same. And like I have a couple sweatshirts that I basically wear as a jacket every day.
[00:14:01] Like I'm always like piling on the layers and leggings and slippers. That's really my slippers or sandals depending on the weather. Yes. And for us here, cuz I live in New England. Mm-hmm. , , it is definitely slipper weather. Yes. No sandals here. Although I wish, it were warm and tropical where I lived.
[00:14:20] Well I'm in Oklahoma, so we get. I like to say we get all four seasons, but we really don't. We kind of just get summer and winter. So now we're in winter, so it's like in the thirties, you know, but I feel like just not long ago was in the eighties. Yeah, it was really just a couple weeks ago. . Yeah. I think two weeks ago here it was in the seventies.
[00:14:38] Yeah, so we probably have kind of a similar, temperature. Yours is just quite a bit colder on average. and maybe Rainier. Yes, you'll hear me. Probably set a goal. I'm gonna pretend like I'm in the tropics for the week, . That will be one of my goals during winter. I saw a meme one time where somebody had a desk drawer and they pulled it out and it had sand in it, and they would just stick their bare feet in their desk drawer in the sand and just kind of.
[00:15:04] You know, ground themselves a bit. Have a little mini vacation. Yeah. Yeah. , that's definitely something. Just an idea. Maybe get little sandbox put under your desk, stick your feet in it. . Well, I am very introverted and I think I didn't realize how introverted I was until C because then I was like, oh, good, everything's canceled.
[00:15:24] That just kind of made me realize how much I enjoyed being home and kind of making my own schedule. And I worked in corporate until about a year ago. So the whole entrepreneur owning a business is pretty new to me still. But it is kind of lonely. Like as much as I want to be by myself and not do my hair, not do my makeup, just wear my PJs all day I still kind of miss that human connection.
[00:15:49] And what I like about this group is everyone's here because we wanna be here. And it's not like a corporate job where you. Someone that's just grumpy commenting, like, doesn't wanna be here. You know what I mean? Like, right. Like I'm here just because I have to be you know, I'm commenting just so it looks like I'm working.
[00:16:07] Like we don't have that kind of environment. And obviously a lot of people who are in the business owner, entrepreneur, Are just used to that. But me coming from a very fresh corporate background, I love it that everyone is here and everyone's wanting to get their money's worth out of it. So that's a difference too, is we don't usually have people just ghosting.
[00:16:27] You know, if you're, paying for a membership, you're gonna utilize it. So I think that's a big benefit too. And I love that you're like meeting other business owners that you can kind of work with. And I like that too cuz the more like, I'm not there to get bookkeeping clients, you know, I'm just there to kind of help people on their journey cuz I know that not everybody's ready for a bookkeeper.
[00:16:47] So in that sense it's kind of fun cuz Jen and I are not in competition with each other, even though we do the same things and. Basically help the same types of bookkeeping clients. We've really just kind of formed this friendship over, you know, just helping this group of people who, if I was a business owner and I wasn't a bookkeeper, I would just want guidance on it.
[00:17:07] You know, if I was, if I didn't have my head in this all day, every day So that's just a gap in the market I guess, that we wanted to fill. And so I love that community aspect is something that you really value and getting to know other business owners and making friends and, you know, shared struggles.
[00:17:23] Yes. Well, I was thinking while about it while we were talking is that I think that in the online space, When you're showing up on social, right? Mm-hmm. , , it's very, I mean, we talk about being authentic, but I think the membership for those who show up, it's like we're all here because we know we have something in our business we need to work on.
[00:17:48] Mm-hmm. . . And we're not afraid to admit that, mm-hmm. , it's like we're already kind of coming to the table saying, we need help with something in our business. And so I feel like that in and of itself, makes the community more open with one another.
[00:18:02] Yeah. A little bit of the barriers of business owners is down. Yeah. And so I feel like we just all connect really well, really quickly. Mm-hmm. , , and that has been really nice. and then if we need help with anything, like I've already had the opportunity to connect with, you know, just from our profiles that we set up, right with the questions that you ask us, we get to share a little bit about of our businesses.
[00:18:26] And I didn't even join thinking that somehow I'd be able to help another service provider supporting them. But then I was approached and said, Hey, like, I need help. And you. The thing that I need help with and yeah. . And so, you know that that's been like a pleasant surprise as well. Mm-hmm. Being in the community.
[00:18:45] And that's awesome. When I just learned about that today, so , that makes me so happy. I feel like a matchmaker. . Yeah. So that was exciting. But the other thing, you know, another layer of confidence that I have is, I remember this time last year, I was like, oh my goodness, I have a lot to catch up. . And while there's still some things I do need to catch up, I do feel. 10 times more confident because I know we have this workshop once a month and I know I have a co-working session, and then I know if I have a question while I'm getting things caught up and preparing for taxes, that I can just ask it like I have a resource and I'm not gonna be like, oh, where am I gonna find you? Can't see. We're on Zoom right now talking and pretending like I'm typing , uh, you know, typing in, searching, like who am I gonna, you know, set up a call and pay to ask these questions. , get all of that wrapped up in the community. Yeah. And not to mention, even if you Google something and find a good resource, Like, do you even read that language , like sometimes, right?
[00:19:47] It doesn't even make sense. So having someone with real life experience with those questions too, I think is helpful. Or even if Jen and, I don't know, we have people that we can kind of bounce ideas off of and get help. So, it's nice too because since we have the app for Heartbeat we.
[00:20:05] Like, anytime you have a question that pops up, you have your phone and just, you know, type in a message and somebody's gonna answer it , you know? So I like that. I really love that you found someone to help you. Yeah. so someone has hired you, right? Yeah, it was just, it was like, hey, it was completely just random.
[00:20:23] Like, Hey, you do what I need, or You, you provide the support that I need. I need help with X, Y, and Z. Mm-hmm. .. And so, we ended up starting to work together this month, and so like, it was completely unexpected. I came here to like, yeah, you know, get my life together, with my books, and I've gotten so much more out of it than I.
[00:20:42] Like completely blew my mind expectation wise. Yeah. And I love that. I think, It makes sense if you are looking for someone and maybe you don't even know that that service exists. Like I kind of, I didn't even know that. I can't think of an example, but there are a couple people in our group that do services that I've never even heard of that I didn't know that that was a thing that people specialize in.
[00:21:06] So now I'm like, well, if I ever need that or if anyone that I know needs that, that's who I'm gonna refer them to because I know it exists. So, you know, it's in my realm of possibility, I guess. So, and if I knew someone in that, That did something that I need, I'm definitely going to them first because I know for sure that they take their business seriously because they're doing their bookkeeping, so they're planning on being around for a while.
[00:21:28] I value that in a business. So I like doing business with other businesses that are, have staying power. Even if it's just. A photography session, you know, something that I'm just gonna do once and then get the photos. It's nice supporting a business who is taking themselves seriously. So I think that this community is great for that too.
[00:21:47] Now I need to look through and see everybody if I could. Like, hire someone now in our group, . Yes. Yes. We have some amazing people in our group. Mm-hmm. , , we have people in the design industry. We have people, you know, in holistic, um, yeah. Nutrition. Yeah. We have, all sorts of different business owners in our community and it's been really, really fun to have us all connect and like, strangely enough, I'm.
[00:22:13] Even though I did books before, I still dreaded doing my books like I, and now I don't really feel that way anymore. , now I'm like, all right, I have my dedicated times. It's on the calendar, I'm gonna do this. And now, you know, February MEG, or January, February Meg is, gonna be grateful for November Meg
[00:22:34] Yeah. For all the time you put into this. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. What was your thought process before joining the Profit Society? What kind of things did you think about and maybe doubts or something that you had? I think for me, I was more just like I relieved when I saw that this was an option for me. . Mm-hmm. . For me it was a no-brainer. I didn't have any hesitations. Mainly because any business owner, regardless of what industry they're. Like you're saying, if you wanna take your business seriously, like you, you need to take care of your finances because that's that's the lifeline guess.
[00:23:11] Revenue is important, but you have to manage it well to be able to take next steps in your business. And so it was a brainer for me to say, yes. Let's go. Let's do this. I was so happy to see it, cuz you're right. I think I've ever seen anything like, Available and not even just one bookkeeper.
[00:23:28] We get two of you , we get you and Jen, and so. Like, sometimes I'm like, wow, I get to ask both of them questions. , and we do kind of have different takes on some things. She focuses primarily on QuickBooks. I do have some QuickBooks clients, but I also, I, most of my clients use Zero. So, we're both familiar with those software programs.
[00:23:49] So it kind of just depends on the type of business that you have and, Not all business owners want to use a software, so it's kind of intimidating. I'm assuming that you use QuickBooks, right? So, yeah, I wanna go away from it. I'm on the fence between, Continuing that or using zero, but that's a 2023 decision that I need to make. Yeah. If you're already in QuickBooks, finish it strong. Yeah. But when it comes to all of that, I do love that I can ask that question. Yeah. That I can come and be like, Hey, I'm gonna switch. Like, is there anything I need to know? Because, just because I'm familiarity with.
[00:24:25] Bookkeeping softwares doesn't mean that I'm gonna know everything about zero and how to set myself up. If it's my first time using it. Yeah. And get every, everything transferred over. Yeah, that's definitely something we could talk about when the time comes. If you wanna switch over I might have a discount code you can use too.
[00:24:42] I like zero. For everyone who uses Stripe, mostly because you can connect it like a bank and it's awesome, like how you can code everything. You have your income and you can code that to whatever service you're billing. And the fee is separate. You just code that to Stripe fees, and then you have transfers from Stripe to your bank account and then you code that as a transfer.
[00:25:02] So it's really clean. and use, just set roles for those things and then when you have transactions come through, you just say Match, match match, match, match. . I love that because zero also connects with the sodo. Yes. And so, and that's the CRM I use. And so I was really excited about that. And so I have, I guess, what feels like, you know, the magical combo of striped sodo and then potentially zero.
[00:25:28] That's definitely something I'm going to explore and yeah. Pick your guys' brain on in the membership. , to answer your question, was there any hesitations? Not about the membership itself, it was more just me saying like, am I gonna show up for myself? Yeah. But what has been so great is you guys make it easy.
[00:25:46] And so that's why like I've shown up for the workshops and I've been able to utilize the co-working sessions and. That was my only hesitation was making sure I showed up for myself. , because it's easy to, you know, not utilize a membership, but the goal at the end of the day was to make sure I got my books up to date, and I've gotten so much more out of it than that.
[00:26:05] I've gotten 10 times more than I expected. Out of deciding to show up for my own bookkeeping. I've made new friends, I've made connections. I even, you know, got to start working with someone new and, meet other business owners. And like you said you know, Even though I've been doing this online thing for a while now, a little over two years, it, you're right, it does begin to feel, it can be easily to feel lonely a little bit.
[00:26:28] , you know, when you're sitting here just plugging away, it's nice to be able to just tap into our community and say hi and mm-hmm. , , ask how everyone's doing and connect you. I think too I always have to kind of trick myself into doing things that I'm dreading. So I think having the coworking space, we mentioned like grab a coffee, like make this a thing, like make it fun.
[00:26:48] Because it's not always fun for everybody to go through and like dig through their receipts or look through their bank statements and code things. I love it, but I know not everyone does. So. We just try to, you know, we play some music in the background, you can turn it down if you don't wanna listen to it, if it distracts you.
[00:27:04] But I think for a lot of us, we're all pretty creative and having some kind of background music just kind of helps you focus. So, I really, really like the co-working sessions. Even if it's just a couple of us in there, I feel like we get a lot done. So basically you go in there and you set your intentions.
[00:27:21] You just kind of work on it, and then if you have questions, you drop it in the chat. So it's, just kind of a nice, like you're saying the time that you are setting aside for yourself to get a task done that you kind of put off. And it's not very painful. No. Once we're sitting there doing it, I think one of the things that I've loved is that it's.
[00:27:40] Change my mindset a little bit about how I feel about numbers in general. Mm-hmm. Like, cuz now I'm like, oh, I'm not alone in the process of, catching up or the, you know, doing this month's numbers I have. People I can talk to about it and like ask questions if something comes up. And things for me are relatively consistent as where as like what I'm plugging in every month, but still it's put a much more positive spin on it for me.
[00:28:05] Mm-hmm. . . And I love that. When you were talking earlier about your retainer, the clients that you bill in a retainer for your services, bookkeeping is similar. So, you know, I charge a subscription. It's a monthly fee, and that's my favorite type of business because you have that recurring income that you can, for the most part, rely.
[00:28:24] But not everybody has that. So it's been fun to learn other types of businesses that do have just the one off, like they're selling templates. And just the strategy for that. The bookkeeping is, just as simple, but the strategy for paying yourself. Is different. The strategy for how you budget is different because you don't necessarily have that recurring to look at.
[00:28:46] That just, sorry, that kind of just came out of nowhere. I was thinking I needed to mention that from earlier when we were talking, but yeah, I mean, we discovered that in the how to pair ourselves workshop. Mm-hmm. , , there's so many different ways people do it based off your eyes because. the different, reoccurring revenue structures that are out there.
[00:29:06] , Mm-hmm. , you know, whether your product or service or, like you were saying, if it's not just a set amount every month and a subscription type format it can have a whole different strategy behind it. Yeah. So the last question I think I had for you is, what would you say to anyone that's on the fence?
[00:29:24] They're thinking about joining the private society, but aren't sure. Come hang out with us. Come hang out with me. Come sit with us, come hang out with us. No, seriously, what I would say is that if you're considering it, it's, you know, You're likely a business owner who wants to have some more consistency and potential confidence in having their books, you know, front and center and cleaned up in the moment, versus feeling like, okay, I have like three bank statements sitting to my left here that I need to reconcile.
[00:29:56] I would say join us. Because you're gonna feel so relieved that you've cut that time out for yourself, that you've blocked that time and you're gonna learn something. You're gonna meet new friends and you're gonna find community, and it's so much more than just catching up your books. Aw. Well thank you
[00:30:13] Thank you for saying all of that. I couldn't have said it better myself, . so where can people find you? So, my favorite place to hang out is on Instagram, and so you can find me by searching Virtual Creative Co. Or you can go to my website virtual creative code.com and b. Okay, . I, I'm laughing here cuz I'm like turning red.
[00:30:35] You, yours listening. Can't see that, but like, I get all, it's the introvert in me being like Yeah. Talking about yourself. Yeah. . It's hard. But yeah I'm so happy that you found someone that has hired you through this process that makes me so happy. That's like a great testimonial for joining and Exactly.
[00:30:53] Kind of what I had in. I wasn't necessarily promoting that. Like, I don't necessarily want people to join to like push their own services, but it's just a nice, you know, side effect of, oh yeah, joining a membership like this, you're gonna find people that need you. Well, and vice versa. The way you guys structured it, it's almost like a directory in a way.
[00:31:13] , when you come in, you and you can kind of see you know, Type of businesses people own. And in no way has it been like, oh, that icky feeling where people are like, you can tell they're just dropping meds. None of that goes on. Yeah. It's literally just people find each other through the introduction and if they decide to connect outside of the community for services, then that's amazing.
[00:31:36] But it's been really great to. Have conversations with other business owners that I don't think you would have in the dms On Instagram. . Yeah. Cause in the dms, I always feel like someone's trying to sell me something. Like, what is your motive? , why did you start this conversation? ? Right. Or that there's that narrative of like, if you're gonna ask me a question, pay me.
[00:31:57] And like, and granted, I am not discounting someone you know, the knowledge that people. Have and that they've learned over time and that absolutely people should be paid for their knowledge and services. But in some ways, I do think it's created a bit of a barrier for that type of connection to occur organically.
[00:32:16] Mm-hmm. In the social space. Yeah. Because of those two things. It's either, are you trying to sell me or like, are you trying to take advantage of me in the dms? And there's that, I don't know. Yeah, you just don't know what someone's motive is. And Like you said, sometimes you feel like you're giving way too much info, like, I should be charging for this
[00:32:37] It's a great place to start a conversation and then move it to a different platform. I think that's another thing that's hard to balance as a business owner. I just try and have his, or. Sharing is caring. I guess is that cliche saying, but Yeah. But you know, we're all there together and we're all talking and it removes that layer of funkiness that can sometimes be attached.
[00:32:59] social media interactions. . Yeah, you're kind of, everyone's vulnerable in the group. Everybody's saying they need help with something. So, and it's a common thing, you know, everybody needs help with bookkeeping. No, not everybody is a, bookkeeping pro. So, yeah. Well, this conversation has been great.
[00:33:15] Thank you again for joining me. And hopefully, you know, we'll chat again. And I know I'll see you in the group. So thank you so much. Yes. Thank you so much for having me. All right. Bye bye.
