[00:00:00] Hi there. Thank you for joining me for episode 12 of the Simply Booked Podcast. Today I wanna talk to you about what to do when you aren't ready for a bookkeeper. I've talked a lot lately about what to do when you are ready to hire a bookkeeper or outsource anything in general. But what if that doesn't feel right just yet?
[00:00:21] What if you know hiring a bookkeeper sounds great, but you don't have the cash flow or you don't have any sales? No matter the reason, if it doesn't feel right, it isn't right and that's okay. Or maybe you absolutely love numbers and finances, yet you just don't know where to start once it comes down to actually doing your own bookkeeping.
[00:00:44] So what do you do in the meantime? Ignoring it is not the answer, my friends. If you heard episode seven, you heard my interview with my friend and fellow bookkeeper, Jen Fisher, we started the Profit Society. Which is a boutique DIY bookkeeping community, the accountability expert support and resources you need to grow your profits.
[00:01:08] We talked in that episode about why we started the Profit Society and how we felt a need for this type of community for business owners who want to DIY their books, but they don't wanna do it alone. So whether you use a spreadsheet or a template, or you're starting your journey in QuickBooks or Zero, or a similar online bookkeeping software, Jen and I would love to have you in our community.
[00:01:34] I know one of Jen's favorite features is our co-working sessions. It is a dedicated time for us all to work on our own business bookkeeping. Even Jen and I as bookkeepers ourselves tend to focus more on our clients' bookkeeping work than our own. So this is also our dedicated time to work on our own business bookkeeping so we can treat ourselves like our most valuable.
[00:02:00] Getting our own books done, which creates momentum to continue working on our client's books at the beginning of every month. Those co-working sessions are the first Tuesday of every month, and we get some really good questions. They're very low pressure. Low key. You can keep your camera off, you can keep your microphone muted and just type in questions in the chat when you hit a roadblock.
[00:02:24] One of my favorite features of the Profit Society is monthly workshops. Jen and I have planned out the next several months of monthly workshop topics, and we host them on the third Tuesday of every month. We will talk about personal and business budgeting, how to pay yourself as a business owner, profit first, online banking.
[00:02:47] Um, the list goes on. These workshops are so much fun to host and even I walk away from them with a new knowledge. So, for example, after our budgeting workshop, I implemented a brand new family budget for my household's personal finances. And I revamped the way I had been doing my Profit First transfers in my business.
[00:03:09] I've always used a version of Profit First for my business transfers, but I found a new way to make it even simpler since I was preparing this and packaging it for the Profit Society's Workshop. I wanted to make it as simple as possible. For the Profit Society members, and I prefer this new way over my old one, so I benefit from this as well.
[00:03:33] And last but not least, our community. Our community platform is pretty awesome. We host a community in heartbeat. We save our workshop replays. Post our documents and templates for our members to reference post giveaways that incentivize our members who keep their bookkeeping up to date. It's a lot of fun in there, and we get to know other business owners that they're having the same struggles as we are, not just bookkeeping related.
[00:03:59] So if you have any questions about the membership, please feel free to DM me at Simply Booked by Lisa on Instagram. We also send out free monthly bookkeeping checklists, so if you wanna join our non spammy mailing list, you can find all of this information. And more on our website, the prophet society.net.
[00:04:22] That's all for today's episode, and thank you again for tuning in today. I'll see you next time.
